50+ Skincare Tips

Recently, I've seen a lot of comments on Facebook asking how to take care of your skin in your 50s or 60s.

So ... here are my top tips:

Moisturiser. And a rich one at that. As we get older, our skin tends to get drier. It's absolutely necessary to moisturise in the morning (Imperial Moisturiser) and before you go to bed (Night Elixir).

Cleanse. But do this carefully. It's still important to keep your skin clean, but make sure you opt for less drying cleansers, and go for something nice and gentle such as Crystal Cleanser.

Exfoliate. As you get older, you have to exfoliate even more, because the layer of dead skin becomes even thicker. I recommend exfoliating at least once a week (Natural Luminosity Scrub is the perfect choice).

Sunscreen. Skin is more easily damaged as we age - and certainly by the sun. So be sure to either use a good dedicated sunscreen because much latest advice is that even moisturisers with sunscreen often give a false sense of security. Why? Because their primary job is as a moisturiser rather than sun screen ...

Of course, there are plenty of other treatments and tricks out there, but it all comes down to your personal needs.

And we are all so beautifully different. So be sure to 'listen' to your skin and adapt as you see fit.

Have an amazing day, Tracey xx

Hi, does your moisturiser have any sun protection?

Rosalinda Ahmead on August 19 2020 at 11:41AM

Thanks for the info. Which sunscreen do you recommend and do you apply it last or before moisteriser?? Thank you

Hi Tracey I’m in my mid sixties and have just received my first delivery from yourselves which I intend to start to use soon , I found your tips very interesting and must admit that I brought your products on the strength of the very good reviews that I have read about .

I have just bought a complete set of Highborn products, are they only suitable for ladies in their 50s and 60s. I am approaching my 70s.

Thank you, i have learned a lot about taking care of my skin.

Your tips re the 50+ skin care tips was really useful especially about the exfoliating as I didn’t realise that about the layer of dead skin became thicker so now I can adapt that skin routine each week now instead of every two weeks.

The Highborn skin products are my secret pleasure in life I love the smell and I love especially the way it looks after my aging skin – as a lady who is approaching 60 yrs my skin looks and feels lovely – soft and well care.

Thank you Tracey for amazing service and beautiful products

Hi Tracey. Have you thought of doing a cleansing Balm. As I am 65 with drying skin, I use a balm all the time. It seems to leave my skin feeling more nourished, and a lot softer. In a month I have changed over to your range, I order the scrub and eye gel first and was so impressed Ive changed to the serum and moisturiser and night elixir as well. I also purchased a set for my sister, who like yourself suffered from breast cancer, lung cancer and lymphadima in her left arm. And she is thrilled with it. I will be trying your cleanser and toner, but at present am using up what I have. If you do consider making a balm I would like to volunteer to be your guinea pig. And your personal tester. Yours Christine Constable. 😄😄😄

Thanks for tips. I always use your cleanser/toner/ moisturiser/night cream/ eye cream and lip glosses but never used the scrub. So will definitely be giving that a try once a week. I’m 66 in couple weeks time and also a breast cancer survivor so I appreciate your products so much. Thank you x

Please can you do a moisturiser with a sunscreen as it would be great not to have to put another layer of cream on my face. Sure there are plenty of ladies that would go for this.

Tracey
Received my order yesterday of the set of 4 items, but why does the moisturiser say For Men on the jar?

Alison Roberts on August 19 2020 at 01:12PM

I’m just over 50 and have started to use your products and I have to say my slik is feeling much more hydrated and looking healthier, I am delighted.

Christine Constable on August 19 2020 at 01:12PM

The Luminosity Scrub is the first thing I per chased from highborn, and I absolutely love it. I’m 65 years old and was looking for a new exploratory. And this fits the bill perfectly. It’s a lovely smell, and the particles in it are small and it can be abrasive as you want it to be. Would highly recommend. Enjoy the experience of using it.

I HAVE UNUSUAL SKIN FOR MY AGE (66). NO WRINKLES BUT EXCESSIVE OIL, CAUSING ACNE AND SEBACEOUS HYPERPLASIA (AND ON MY SCALP TOO),TOGETHER WITH SUN DAMAGE ON MY NECK AND CHEST. ANY RICH NOURISHING CREAMS EXACERBATES SEBUM PRODUCTION, BUT I STILL NEED TO MOISTURISE AND USE EYE GEL-CREAM. I HAVE HAD LASER SURGERY TO REMOVE THE SEBACEOUS HYPERPLASIA, AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO, AS THE BUMPS RETURN. I USE AN OIL-FREE LIGHT FOUNDATION AND POWDER DAILY AS MY NATURAL COMPLEXION IS BLOTCHY. I ALSO APPLY AN OIL-FREE SPF50 BY CLINIQUE ONLY IN THE SUN – TOO GREASY FOR EVERYDAY USE. EVERYTHING I READ ABOUT MATURE SKIN IS ALWAYS ABOUT NOURISHING AND KEEPING WRINKLES AT BAY. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUITABLE PRODUCTS PLEASE?
