Your 15 Minute HIGHBORN Pamper Ritual ... All In Your Own Home


In an ideal world, we know you’d love to set aside an hour every week for an at-home pampering session. 60 minutes of pure, unadulterated me-time to love and lavish your skin, body and mind?

Pure heaven.

But things are never that simple, are they?

Most of you are juggling work and family life at the best of times, but with Covid-19 throwing home-working, home-schooling and home-everything into the mix, taking time out of your busy schedule to pamper yourself is a rare treat.

So, without further ado, here’s how to give yourself a HIGHBORN pamper at home. And if you truly don’t have time for the whole kit and caboodle, set aside just 15-20 minutes to do what you can to love your skin and lift your spirits. Trust us, you’ll feel so much better for it ...

First, Set The Scene

To enjoy your me-time to the fullest, it’s important to get into the right state of mind. Put away your phone (come on, you can do it); make sure nothing and no-one is going to disturb you; play some soothing, yet uplifting music; lock the bathroom door; light a candle and get ready to enjoy your moment of zen. Wine: also optional!

Your HIGHBORN Bath & Body Ritual 

To relax your body and mind, you can’t beat a soak in the bath (and yes, we’ve made a firm note of your shout-outs for a bath soak, syrup or oil! But read on to see how Natural Luminosity Scrub is the perfect friend for your bath time, too). Just remember, as tempting as it may be, scorching water can compromise your skin’s natural protective barrier causing dryness and irritation. Word to the wise: don’t be too heavy-handed with the hot tap. 

While you’re in the tub, close your eyes for the first few minutes and allow the cares of your day to drift away. Listen to your favourite music or enjoy complete silence (now, there’s a thought!) and take your mind to your happy place – anything to just switch off for a moment. 

Then, after saying farewell to the stresses of the day, it’s time to focus on your skin. We’re sure your facial skincare regime is pretty fantastic, but can you say the same about your bodycare routine? Your body equates to a whopping 81 percent of your entire body area so if you aren’t looking after it, well, that’s a lot of skin going unloved. Let’s change that, shall we?

A great and very effective way to boost circulation, remove toxins and tone all over is to exfoliate regularly with our Natural Luminosity Scrub.

Exfoliation is the process of sloughing off dead cells from the surface of your skin which boosts cell turnover and helps your skin glow from within. The good news is, Natural Luminosity Scrub is so gentle, you can use it every day – especially on your face.

For a gorgeous pampering treat, work it in circular motions all over damp skin while you’re in the bath.

Pay attention to dry areas like your knees, elbows and heels and be careful not to be heavy-handed over your face, neck and décolletage, where the skin is thinner and more fragile. Easy does it and barely any pressure at all.  

When you’re done soaking in the bath, gently dry your skin with a clean towel, then moisturise all over as quickly as possible – preferably within a minute.

Moisturising while your skin is still damp helps seal in any water that’s left behind, especially if your body cream contains occlusive ingredients like shea butter and coconut oil which form a protective layer over the surface of your skin.

The 10-Minute HIGHBORN Facial 

Now it’s time to move on to your face – which you will have already cleansed and exfoliated in the bath, of course. Rinse your skin with fresh water, then gently blot dry with a towel before spritzing immediately with Diamond Toner to soothe, hydrate and prepare your skin for some serious love and attention. 

Apply a pea-sized amount of Pre-Eminent Beauty Serum to your face and neck, tapping it gently into your skin using the pads of your fingers. Then, once your serum has fully absorbed, take a small amount of Imperial Eye Gel, massage it between the pads of your ring fingers and press or smooth it around both eyes. Imperial Eye Gel is a very effective way to reduce puffiness, dark circles and fine lines so it’s an ideal spa treatment for de-stressing the skin around your eyes. Allow your eye treatment a minute to absorb, then apply Imperial Moisturiser (or Night Elixir, depending on when you can get your me-time) to your face and neck using light pressure as you smooth it all over. 

Next, comes the best bit: the facial massage, perfectly complemented by Organic Age-Defying Facial Oil, our most luxurious skincare product and a divine way to finish your pampering session while toning, firming and nourishing your skin.

First, warm a couple of drops of oil between your hands, smooth it all over your face and neck, then begin your massage by working the pads of your fingers around the perimeter of your face in circular motions. Do this for a minute or so, concentrating on areas where you hold the most tension (usually around the jaw and temples). Push your fingers up and out and apply enough pressure to work out your skin without causing any discomfort – remember, this is supposed to be enjoyable, not torture! 

Next, move on to your forehead, pressing your fingers slowly up from your eyebrows to your hairline for a minute to help reduce lines and tension in this area. Then apply light pressure to the sides of your nose and smooth your fingers up and out towards your temples. This lifts the cheeks and helps combat puffiness around the eyes. 

When you’ve worked on your face for five minutes or so, finish by smoothing your hands from your chest up to your jawline a few times to lift the neck area and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Hopefully you can find a little time to pamper yourself this month. We know it can be difficult to find the time, space and the energy, but remember, there’s absolutely no shame in wanting to look after yourself.
