Say Bye to Skin that's Dry!

If you don’t feel comfortable in your skin, then nothing seems to be going the right way. When your skin feels tight, dry and even itchy, that feeling can really get you down.

On the other side, hydrated, plump and soft skin makes you feel amazing. Your mood is uplifted. You feel and look more beautiful and confident.

And no matter how hard you try, there’s just no escaping dry skin. It happens to everyone, in all seasons and all stages of life.

So, what is the key to combatting this annoying issue?

First of all, knowing all the triggers definitely helps. Determine the cause of dryness, in order to prevent it. Obviously, a multitude of factors can cause your skin to be in this state. Today  I’ll focus on the most common ones that you might think play a lesser part than they actually do.

Secondly, we’ll jump on the prevention itself. Let’s get started.

Main Causes

Cold Weather

Winter can be especially harsh on your skin, as temperatures drop and humidity plummets. The harsh wind kicks in, and instantly dries out your skin. Unfortunately, there’s no finding comfort from it indoors, as artificial heating causes the exact same issue. The hot air inside sucks all the moisture from the air, leaving your skin craving some additional hydration.

Hot Baths and Showers

While it may feel incredibly relaxing, a hot bath will eventually dry out your skin. A higher water temperature, along with spending a longer time period in the bath will definitely put your skin in an uncomfortable state.

Harsh Chemicals

Nowadays, a vast majority of products are formulated to strip your skin from excess oil. While this sounds like a dream to some, it unfortunately leads to thirsty skin. Shampoos, cleansers, exfoliators and detergents can strip your skin from moisture and leave it craving for precious hydration.

Skin Conditions

Certain skin conditions, such as rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis tend to cause skin that’s slightly more dry than normal. In this case, dryness simply comes with the territory.

Over-washing

Yes, there is such a thing as overdoing it when it comes to cleansing and washing your skin. Whether it’s the skin of your face or on the hands, too much exposure to water and products can trigger dryness. Remember, do everything in moderation. No exaggeration.

Prevention

Moisturise Daily

It goes without saying that you should religiously use moisturiser. I mean, drench yourself in the glory that is a moisturiser. Creams and moisturisers improve the skin’s natural barrier function, which in turn promotes water retention. Make sure to avoid products that contain drying ingredients such as alcohol, dioxane, artificial fragrance or petroleum. Natural moisturisers work best, which is why I’m thrilled and excited to introduce for the first time, our latest innovation in skincare, the Highborn London Organic Hydration Gel

Make room on your vanity, as this will be your must-have product for anti-dryness. The Highborn London Organic Hydration Gel contains nature’s most powerful ingredients and is going to deliver hydration to you on a silver, 100% organic platter!

Change Your Bathing Habits

Crank up the moisture, turn the heat down a notch. Skip the hot, steamy showers. Instead, shower with warm water and limit your showers to five to 10 minutes maximum. Dermatologists recommend doing this regularly, if you’re really struggling to get your skin to the ideal state. Think of your skin the next time you step in the shower, and cut your concert short.

Cover Up

If harsh weather is your main concern, make sure you cover up. Have some fun with your accessories, and integrate scarves, hats and caps into your winter wardrobe to keep your skin as protected as possible.

Invest in a Humidifier

A humidifier will help improve the humidity of the air during the months when our heaters are working hard to keep our space warm and cosy. Combine it with beautiful essential oils and you’ll hit two birds with one stone; hydrated skin and a wonderfully scented home.

Remember, dry skin is rarely a serious issue. It’s easily controlled and prevented, and making sure that these basics are covered are going to make a huge difference.

Stay confident and stay beautiful!

So impressed with the product, I am on my second pot of moisuriser and can’t recommend it enough. I have really dry flaky skin and had been using one of the main brands for years until I decided to give this a go.

I have now purchased the eye gel which is also great.

Many thanks from my happy skin.
