Video Blog: Top Makeup Artist Leanna Biggs Reveals her 3 Minute Pre-Makeup Skincare Prep

Leanna Biggs, is a stunning makeup artist and a 2020 Wedding Industry Awards Regional Finalist.

She's also determined to look after her skin because it's critical for your makeup looking great! And that's where HighBorn comes In.

Leanne uses HighBorn every day and whole-heatedly recommends to the brides helps look amazing on their special day and all her clients.

Watch her video above for a look at her HighBorn routine.

And here's Leanna's normal routine in her own words:

"I've just got out of the shower and dried my hair.

And I'm now going to put on my favourite HighBorn products before I put my makeup on. As a makeup artist, it's so important that your skin is in a really good place. Otherwise, your makeup's just not that great.

So my normal routine, I've got my Imperial Eye Gel, love, love, love. I just love this.

Love the texture. And I like just gently massaging it around my eyes over my wrinkly eyelids and underneath. The texture ... it just feels so nice. And I definitely ... have definitely noticed a difference since I've been using this probably for about a year.

And I get a lot of compliments about my youthful looks, which is very kind. Maybe they're not all true, but very kind.

So I'm just going to get my fringe out of the way so that I can put my serum on.

So I put my eye gel on first and then I use the Pre-Eminent Beauty Serum. Love that it's now in a glass bottle that makes me super happy (NOTE: We have two variations of new eco-friendly packaging, the bottle as seen here with Joanna and also a jar. So customers may receive one or the other at the time of writing. Depending on feedback we will stick with the favourite!).

And I just put a little bit on my hand and I like to dot it around my face and I tend to rub it in and my neck, which is often forgotten. I think don't forget your neck.

And I love the way it just sinks into the skin so quickly.

So after that has settled for a moment, the Imperial Moisturiser ... rich enough to just help with any areas of dryness I find, but not so heavy that you can't put makeup on over the top.

Now. I just use my fingertips to work in not forgetting my neck.

What I like to do before I put on my makeup is put on some of the Lip Butter. And that would just prep your lips in time. By the time you get around to putting anything on your lip, makeup-wise, it would have had a chance to do its magic. Skin prep done ...

<PAUSE>

So I've done my makeup.

Now, it all went on amazingly. It's all cream-based products that I've put on today. So it buffed into the skin really well because of the prep. It's so important to do your proper prep and the products from HighBorn just worked for me... so amazingly well.

So I finished off with one of the Lip Glosses ... in Pink Topaz and I just dapped that onto my lips with my finger just to give a little bit of colour, but nothing too much at the end.

I'm really, really chuffed. And I would really recommend that you try the products because I think they're ACE."

So pleased you're pleased Leanna!

Thank you for all your kind comments!

In answer to your questions: Susie, I’m currently using a spray SPF by La Roche Posay (factor 50).

Julie, try the gloss if you haven’t already, it’s not at all sticky!

Ellie, it depends on your skin type. If you are prone to oiliness, you might find you only need the Imperial moisturiser in certain key (drier) areas e.g. around your nostrils, and some days you might not need any at all. If your skin is on the dry side, apply a fine layer first and leave a good few minutes for it to properly sink in before using your tint. If you find it’s ‘sliding’ off you can use a primer in between the two. Hope that helps!

Enjoy using your Highborn London products :-)

Hi there. Please can you tell me what spf you use on a daily basis? Thank you!

Julie on June 11 2020 at 03:00PM

Been using your products for a while now and I love them. It’s especially good to see a blog like Leanna’s. She’s someone who knows what she’s talking about professionally and it pleases me that She can endorse how good your products are. I’ve never tried the lip gloss and based on leanna’s comments I might give them a try. Usually glosses slide right off me or feel sticky. But I’m going to try it. Well done highborne. A well deserved stamp of approval from a professional artist.

Great video. I mihgt just have to treat myself to the lip glosses now!
Please can I ask a question, I currently use tinted a moisturiser. How long should I leave between applying the Imperial Moisturiser and the tinted one?
It would be lovely to know the make-up products you used as I love the natural end look.
