Cooler, windier weather arrives in autumn, humidity levels drop and your skin can really suffer. Cranking up your central heating sucks even more moisture out of your skin. The best way to hydrate your skin is to include ingredients in your regime that draw water to the surface of your skin. These are called humectants and include goodies like hyaluronic acid, glycerin and aloe vera – which, by the way, are all formulated into our super hydrating Pre-Eminent Beauty Serum.
No matter how well you’ve protected your skin during summer, pesky dark patches can still creep up on you. A great way to target post-summer discolourations is through gentle, but regular exfoliation. Exfoliating is vital for improving cell turnover so that dead skin cells don’t hang around at the surface of your skin for longer than necessary, causing it to look dull and sluggish. Try our Natural Luminosity Scrub which is gentle enough to use every day and bring back that healthy, summer glow.
Like your skin’s very own bodyguard, the skin’s barrier (aka the stratum corneum) is the uppermost layer that protects it and keeps it healthy by keeping moisture in and unwanted irritants out. UV radiation is a killer on your skin’s barrier function and this is why your skin can often feel dry, flaky, inflamed and often more sensitive by the time summer ends. To help get your skin’s barrier back in shape, avoid using hot water when you cleanse your skin. Eat plenty of omega-rich foods such as oily fish, seeds and nuts, and look for moisturisers and treatment serums that contains things like ceramides, fatty acids, hydrating humectants and vitamin E. Try our Night Elixir to get your fix every night before bed.
Autumn is the perfect time to start applying retinol as it works crazy hard to boost collagen, repair connective tissue and undo any sun-induced free radical damage. Our Pre-Eminent Beauty Serum contains a gentle, but very effective derivate of retinol called retinyl palmitate. Retinyl palmitate is perfect for all skin types (yes, even sensitive skin) because it’s less likely to irritate your complexion than other retinoids like pure retinol or prescription tretinoin.
It’s true, the overall level of UV radiation decreases a tad after summer due to the change in the angle in which the sun’s rays hit the Earth, but UVA rays are constant all year and penetrate right through cloud and fog.
The answer, thankfully, is simple. Protect. Your. Skin. Our Organic Tinted Moisturiser with SPF 25 is fabulous every day of the year as it not only provides broad-spectrum protection (which means it protects from both UVA and UVB radiation) but it also contains a gorgeous hint of colour to even out your skin tone and add a cheeky little glow. What’s more, you can choose from four wearable shades, so depending on your natural skin colour, we’ve got you covered. Literally!
"When the stern-faced consultant told me at just 34 I had breast cancer and would face months of chemotherapy, with no certainty I'd be OK I broke down and 'hit the floor'. How could this happen to me?!
I went from super-happy Mum of two young children who prided herself on looking her best to losing all my long blonde hair, my eyebrows, my tan. I looked pale and ill and nearly lost my life." Said Tracey.
There are few things if anything harder on your skin than the chemotherapy Tracey faced.
"Up until my breast cancer diagnosis I'd been really lucky with my skin but my treatment wreaked havoc! It really wanted to age me!" Said Tracey as she pinpointed the 7 top age revealing problems women are constantly nagged by:
Tracey tried pretty much everything in an attempt to regain her skin tone and self esteem. Dozens of different products and routines and yet none really made much difference. She was fed up, frustrated and struggling. She needed to find a solution.
And that's when it hit her ...
YES! If she was going to find something that worked ...she would have to do it herself!
Pre-Emiment Beauty Serum to naturally rejuvenate your youthful face. Imperial Eye Gel to help ease puffiness and dark circles around your eyes. Imperial Moisturiser to help lift and firm your face and neck and rebuild youthful appearance and Night Elixir for the ultimate overnight skin rejuvenation. Helping you look and feel young, happy and full of energy no matter what!
Only 18 months after being so thankfully cleared of breast cancer and judging by the photos and videos, Tracey is looking as good as ever. She's one of those lucky beauties with good features, luminous skin and now it's regrown, long blonde hair. Yet, she spends only a few minutes a day on her face before she's out the door.
As women age she says, looking fresh, rather than made up is the key.
Tracey lives with Henry and their two children Henry (junior, he's 10) and Matilda (she's 9) by the sea away from the hustle of her much loved London.
"Discovering I had breast cancer was both the worst and yet most inspiring time of my life. I'm so grateful to still be here that I will do everything I can to help as many women as I can look and feel fantastic and at the same time help end to breast cancer for good," says Tracey.
"I'd worked with some of the World's Top Skincare Brands run a chain of beauty salons, owned my own salon but never had the courage to really follow my passion and start my own skincare company. So I started with what I needed," she says. "Natural, nasty free skincare that really helped me look and feel better about myself and had people saying I looked great!"
So literally right after finishing her treatment for breast cancer she took her last few hundred pounds and she went into the skincare business herself. The response has been overwhelming with women all over the world ditching expensive high street products to switch to HighBorn and more positive feedback than Tracey had ever dare dream of.
