Have you ever found yourself in a tough period where everything seems impossible and you don't know how to get through? Losing a loved one, battling a serious illness, being made redundant ... We've all been there or have someone close to us who has suffered.
My own battle with breast cancer was a very dark and difficult time. But I learned a great deal about how to cope when everything seems hopeless. And I want to share what I have no doubt got me through to help you or someone you know.
So please, if you are struggling right now or know someone who is, take a few minutes to read these three important things I swear by for helping to get through difficult times in life ... If you need proof that anything really is possible then here it is!

Being a glass half full person has so many proven health and life benefits to training yourself to think positively. From lesser illnesses, reduced stress levels, and faster recovery when you've been unwell. But it doesn't come easy and it won't make your challenges 'disappear'.
What it will do is make them more manageable and help you approach them in a brighter and productive way rather than feeling overwhelmed and thinking the worst. It requires practice and commitment to regular self-talk to change your perspective on pretty much everything!
Spend your energy focussing on the good around you and in you. Express gratitude everyday - a little thanks and appreciation goes a long way for everyone. Spend time with positive people - the energy of the people you surround yourself with is contagious, so you want it to be good! Treat yourself like you would your best friend. Talk kindly to yourself, be patient with yourself and congratulate yourself for even the smallest things you manage to achieve each day.
Determination is what keeps us going, never giving up or being defeated by a set back. No matter what you're experiencing, there will be good days and bad days. And for me, determination is about re-routing the path if it gets blocked, not stopping in your tracks. Finding the motivation and the drive from within to keep going. It's important to set yourself goals to aim for but they should be achievable. It might even be as simple as starting to walk for 20 minutes a day!
For me, when cancer struck and my hair, skin and confidence disappeared at the rate of knots. It was tough not to let defeat take ahold but I found my drive to help others through creating HIGHBORN. And this photo is the day I found out I was free from cancer and the day HIGHBORN began!
Believing is one of the essential things in life. If you don't believe in yourself or in your dreams, you will struggle to bring goodness your way. You'll also likely suffer low self-confidence and won't be able to visualise what "better times" could look like.
Why wouldn't you want the excitement and good feeling that comes with the belief of possibility?
It's often the fear of failure and negative thinking that gets in the way. And that's why positivity and determination all go hand in hand with believing you can do it!
It's this very belief that made me think I could create a luxurious, natural skincare range to help women look and feel fantastic, AND help beat breast cancer with donations to our charity partner. And here we are today, 7 years on!
The lowest points in our lives are often the ones that motivate us to move on and make positive changes. If you're going through a difficult time, remember that you have the power to manage how you feel within your circumstances. Stay positive, stay determined, and believe that anything is possible - and be kind and patient with yourself.
